EEBA Announces 2025 Board of Directors

Minneapolis, Minnesota — The Energy & Environmental Building Alliance (EEBA) is proud to introduce its 2025 Board of Directors, a distinguished group of industry leaders dedicated to advancing the future of high-performance homebuilding. Representing a diverse range of expertise across sustainable construction, innovation, and energy efficiency, these individuals will guide EEBA’s mission to educate and empower the residential building industry. Their leadership will drive new initiatives, strengthen industry collaboration, and support the transition to healthier, more resilient homes. 

2025 Board President  

In 2025, Doug Tarry Jr. will serve as EEBA’s Board President. He is the President of Doug Tarry Homes Limited, a family-owned business in St. Thomas, Ontario. Celebrating 25 years with the company, Doug Tarry Homes has become a multi-award-winning home builder, recognized for constructing over 500 Net Zero and Net Zero Ready homes—more than any other builder in Canada. Doug’s passionate expertise, shaped by decades of experience in sustainable construction, innovation, and community-driven development, makes him a powerful advocate for high-performance building. Doug's leadership and dedication to advancing energy-efficient, resilient housing drive EEBA’s mission forward in 2025. 

First Vice President 

EEBA is honored to have Karen Kicinski serve as First Vice President on its 2025 Board of Directors. As the Marketing Director and Co-Owner of LifeStyle Homes Builders in Melbourne, Florida, Karen has dedicated over eight years to advancing the company's mission of constructing energy-efficient, sustainable homes. Her leadership has been instrumental in promoting LifeStyle's SunSmart and HealthSmart programs, which focus on zero-energy homes and improved indoor air quality. Karen’s commitment to sustainable building practices and effective communication will be vital in her role as First Vice President, guiding EEBA’s initiatives this coming year. 

Second Vice President 

EEBA is privileged to have Mike Frey serve as Second Vice President on its 2025 Board of Directors. As Vice President of Noyes Development Co., Mike drives the vision for home construction and manages operations for the Portland-based builder, renowned for its high-performance homes, including Zero Energy and Zero Energy Ready designs. Mike is dedicated to ensuring homes are healthy, comfortable, durable, efficient, and sustainable. His leadership extends beyond his company—he has served as Vice Chair and Chair of the Home Performance Council at the Home Builders Association of Metropolitan Portland, contributed to the Willamette West Habitat for Humanity Construction Committee, and actively collaborates with industry peers through EEBA’s Builder Benchmark Group. 

New Board Members 

Jason Thorson joins the EEBA Board of Directors as a new member in 2025. Jason Thorson, Director of Business Development at Daikin Comfort Technologies, brings over 20 years of experience in the building industry, with expertise in HVAC manufacturing, energy efficiency, performance contracting, and homebuilding. He leads ePremium Business Development for National Account Groups, focusing on high-density residential new construction. 

EEBA is pleased to also welcome Brian McCarthy as a new Board Member in 2025. Brian is a Co-Owner of Abrazo Homes, Founder and CEO of RIoT Technology, and a past President of both the New Mexico Home Builders Association and the Home Builders Association of Central New Mexico. With over 23 years of experience in residential construction and development, Brian brings extensive industry leadership and expertise. 

Returning Board Members 

EEBA is honored to welcome back Glenna Wilson as a returning Board Member, continuing her service through 2027. As President of Charis Homes in North Canton, Ohio, Glenna has been a leader in energy-efficient homebuilding for over 14 years. She is a ZERH Builder, Certified Green Professional Home Builder, and is nationally recognized for innovations, including building Northeast Ohio’s first Zero Energy Ready home. 

Continuing his commitment on the Board for a second term, Greg Follet remains a valued member of EEBA’s leadership. As the owner of Fish Builders in Salida, Colorado, Greg is known as one of the premier builders in the Arkansas River Valley and a “green building specialist” in south-central Colorado. Greg and Fish Builders are proud members of Built Green Colorado and the ENERGY STAR program, ensuring energy-efficiency by diagnostic testing and third-party certification. 

Serving a second consecutive term, Karla Butterfield continues to bring her expertise to the EEBA Board. As the Sustainability Director at Steven Winter Associates, Karla brings over 25 years of experience in developing sustainability and energy efficiency strategies, providing program certification support, and implementing high-performance building technologies in residential construction. She collaborates closely with architects, developers, builders, and homeowners to advance sustainable practices.

EEBA extends its deepest gratitude to Tim O'Brien, Juan Fernandez, Andrew Guido, Bill Rectanus, Theresa Gilbride, and Adam Strube for their dedication and contributions to the Board. Tim, founder of Tim O'Brien Homes, served as EEBA’s 2024 Board President and now transitions into the role of Immediate Past President. Juan, founder of CVF Homes, continues in his role as the Treasurer. Andrew, Vice President of Sustainability & Innovation for Empire Communities, plays a key role in advancing sustainable building practices. Bill, Managing Partner and Vice President of Homebuilding Operations for Thrive Home Builders, actively promotes high-performance homebuilding. Theresa, a Research Scientist at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, provides essential expertise in building science and energy efficiency. Adam, a Construction Manager for Fulton Homes, brings practical industry insights to EEBA’s initiatives. Their leadership and commitment drive innovation and collaboration within the industry. We sincerely appreciate their time and service and look forward to their continued impact.
